Nine Star Ki Astrology

Nine Star Ki is a wonderfully elegant system based on what is known as the Luo Shui, or Magic Square:

4 9 2
3 5 7
8 1 6

And uses your month and year of birth to arrive a set of three numbers and elements.

What makes it so nice to use is that no matter what aspect of a persons life you are looking at (how they deal with money, relationships, or progress through life) the same basic "energetic" of the relevant number is used. Although as any student of Nine Star Ki will tell you, the subtleties of the system and the relational calculations takes years to master.

The Cycle of Nine

1 Water is symbolised by the seed waiting in the ground for the spring to arrive, it has a powerful sociable/sexual energy, but also needs patience.

8 Earth is when nature begins to move, bringing about unstoppable revolution in its own time.

3 Wood is the brash arrival of the full force of spring which contains enough energy for the seed to break the ground.

4 Wood is the more balanced energy of mid morning, but whose erratic creative energy needs rain and sunlight to survive.

9 Fire is the exciting season of growth and the warmth of midday which helps rapid growth, inspiring and speeding up everyone's activities.

2 Earth gives birth to the fruit and has the caring but fussy mothering instinct.

7 Metal bring about the harvest and symbolises the celebrations we make as a result of our efforts.

6 Metal is the organiser deciding whether it is in the best interest of the community to keep or sell the harvest.

5 Earth controls the activities of each of the other numbers but is prone to extremes, and so needs to be health to remain in the centre.

To make your own calculation, add together the last two digits of the year you were born in. (Unless you were born before the 4rd February, in which case use the previous year.)

Keep adding the digits together until you get a single number.

And subtract this number from 10 to get your own number. For example:

1967 = 67

6 + 7= 13

1 + 3 = 4

10 - 4 = 6

This will work for those born in the 20th century, but for those born in the 21st century, subtract from 9 instead of from 10.
